Hauser's Patio Furniture Sales and Service

With the beginning of each new year, we like to look forward and provide our best guesses for what to expect in outdoor furniture trends in the coming months. While many trends of the past several years will stick around to see another year, others are fresh and new. Here are the top four outdoor furniture trends for 2023 based on our research.

Outdoor Furniture Gets Curvy

Much like the trend we are seeing in luxury automobiles, expect this year to produce outdoor furnishings with curved silhouettes. Reminiscent of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements early in the 20th century, today’s seating pieces, in particular, reflect a frivolous, carefree spirit. Shapes are playful and even provide an arty flair to any backyard oasis.

One of the best examples of this first of the outdoor furniture trends for 2023 is the Curve Chaise Lounge with Riser. The Curve Lounger is made to place right in the pool so you can stay cool all summer long. Eschewing the rigid lines and metal frames of most outdoor furniture collections, Curve pieces by Tropitone are just right for a softer, gentler outdoor environment.

Maximalism Décor

What’s out this year? Minimalism. What’s in? Maximalism. After years of paring down, homeowners are living by the maxim of “more is more.” With this one of the outdoor furniture trends for 2023, the goal is to ensure that everything you could need or want is readily available in your backyard oasis. To get this effect, add more than a single shade feature so your yard is adequately protected. Then pile on the seating pieces and scatter plenty of side tables throughout. Be sure to use color to create a unified theme.

We recently featured an article about seatables. These multi-functional pieces of patio furniture are a perfect fit for the maximalism movement as they take up little space and they are easy to incorporate throughout the square footage of your front or back yard.

Back to Nature

Organic shapes and materials are on trend

Out of the outdoor furniture trends for 2023 compiled here, this one has been around the longest. Before the pandemic started, we were already starting to see plenty of organic shapes, classic materials such as wicker and rattan and textural finishes. The idea is to use natural materials to induce a sense of calm and wellbeing and provide a getaway from all the technology that surrounds us. The trend is updated this year by giving a nod to furnishings from the past, such as floral upholstery, mixed patterns and metallic accents.

Going Green

While it is always a good idea to be eco-conscious, in terms of outdoor furniture trends for 2023 we are referring to the color green. Painted furniture is very popular this year but if you don’t want to paint over the gorgeous finish of your teak pieces, you can add plenty of pops of this earthy color via new upholstery, refurbishing your aluminum furniture or simply adding toss pillows in lime, forest or olive green. It’s a natural to pair with the organic design and materials referenced above. Green is best known for its ability to provide tranquility and promote an optimistic mood. Who couldn’t use a bit more of that?
